2010 DOPPLER STETHOSCOPE (10 GHZ)
WITHOUT AUDIO AMPLIFIER

WARNING!!!   DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE END OF THE ANTENNA WHILE PRESSING THE RED POWER BUTTON.   DO NOT POINT THE ANTENNA AT ANOTHER PERSON ANY CLOSER THAN ONE  (1)  FOOT WHILE PRESSING THE RED POWER BUTTON.
Do not point the 2010 antenna at solid metal objects such as filing cabinets, safes, etc. any closer than four  (4)  inches.

The 2010 Doppler Stethoscope detects clock and mechanical escapements contained in soft sided packages such as suit cases, brief cases, wooden boxes, PVC tubing, etc. The probe senses the motion of the clock parts, not the sound, and converts that motion into audible sound that is heard through the headset (supplied). It also detects movement of electrons within IEDs containing pagers, cell telephones, GPS tracking systems, radio controlled devices and many other electronic triggers.

To operate the 2010 plug the output cable into the PROBE input on the 4020 Mini-Stetho; the CONTACT PROBE input on the 2047U/C Ultrasonic and Contact stethoscope; J1 on the 2049M stethoscope or J3 on the 1059 preamplifier (preferred). Point the antenna towards the floor and press the RED POWER ON button.   Adjust the amplifier volume to a comfortable level.  Release the button.  With the FILTER switch in the HI PASS UP position,  point the antenna at the suspect package and press the RED POWER ON button.  Sweep the antenna about the package from several different directions while listening for suspect sounds.  Rotate the 2010 90 degrees on its center axis and repeat the sweep. Make the same sweeps with the FILTER switch in the LO PASS DOWN position.

Six (6) "AA" Lithium or Alkaline batteries power the 2010 and provide a total of four hours ON time. Check the battery meter periodically to make sure the pointer is above the center line. The 2010 contains a "charge pump" to maintain the power level of the Gunn diode (transmitter). As the battery voltage drops they are required to supply more current.   Eventually,  the point of no return is reached and the meter will drop rapily to zero. Change the batteries about every six months, regardless of use, to assure full current is available.  ALWAYS USE LITHIUM OR ALKALINE BATTERIES!!  Standard zinc-carbon batteries can not supply enough current to operate the 2010.  To replace the batteries, place the unit face down on a soft surface and remove the four (4) bottom screws. Turn the unit over and, with the printed side facing upwards, carefully lift off the top cover.  Lift out and unsnap the battery holder.  Remove the old batteries and replace with fresh ones. Make sure the + end of the batteries are snug against the battery holder contacts. Reconnect the battery holder and insert it in the case.  Replace the top cover being careful not to pinch the battery connector wires between the top and bottom of the case. Briefly push the RED POWER ON button to make sure the meter reads full scale. Replace the four bottom screws.

To protect the receiver portion of the homodyne module (the circuit behind the silver horn antenna) during shipping and storage, place a 4 to 5 inch loosely packed ball of aluminum foil inside the horn opening.  Secure it in place with a rubber band or other fastening device or simply make it large enough so it is held in place by the side of the carrying case. TAPING THE FOIL IN PLACE IS NOT RECOMMENDED due to the very large electrostatic field (static) generated when the tape is removed. This static burst can damage the receiver portion of the unit.

Place the 2010 on its side when returning it to the carrying case.

As with any piece of electronic equipment, remove the batteries during periods of prolonged storage.
